Amelia Handegan | Amelia T. Handegan, Inc.
Amelia Handegan is a Charleston South Carolina -based interior designer whose thirty-year whose 30 year body of work is often attributed to the renewal of Charleston's great historic homes. In addition, her vision has informed a wide spectrum of other residential and commercial projects across the nation and abroad. Her approach to design is intuitive; dependent not only on the physical attributes of the structure itself, but also the collected objects and personal aspirations that an owner brings to the project. Amelia describes her signature style as "one foot in the past and one in the future". She is consistently recognized for her painter's sense of texture, a deft and often surprising use of color, and her predilection for comfortable elegance and quiet drama. Her work reflects an ability to bring together a balance of diverse styles, periods and ethnicities. Sensitivity to the use of textiles and how a space holds light are fundamental to her interior landscapes, with outcomes that are unique, comfortably livable, and somehow evocatively mysterious.
